12. Validating the Converted Application
| Validation Layer | Goal | Typical Questions |
|---|---|---|
| Structural | Can Delphi read the generated forms and units? | Are there reader errors, malformed collections, or invalid properties? |
| Compile-time | Does the project build on the first pass? | Are units missing, events wrong, or symbols unresolved? |
| Runtime | Does the application start and execute real workflows? | Do timers, media, data, dialogs, and navigation work? |
| Visual | Does the application look acceptable and remain usable? | Are fonts, labels, colors, and layouts readable and sensible? |
Validation should now explicitly cover the newer generic support surface. That includes numeric entry controls, radio-group style selections, font-picking workflows, scrollable long-message dialogs, and any wave-audio paths that depend on Winapi.MMSystem or waveOut APIs.
Real validation means exercising the actual workflows that matter to the application: data entry, startup, scheduling, media playback, dialogs, and reporting. A converted app is only as good as the workflows it can successfully perform.
